Getting close to "Turkey Season"

Worthington, MN - Turkey Capital of the World

The world is getting crowded with turkey capitals. Here is another one. However, this community also has a well documented turkey past. Later, you will find that Cuero, TX also claims this title. In 1972, the two communities had a turkey race to decide who was going to be the real capital of the world. It was Minnesota’s thoroughbred turkey “Paycheck” against the Texan thoroughbred “Ruby Begonia”. Paycheck won but received ten penalties. Ruby was awarded the title. The Minnesota spectators cried “fowl”!
